A man was arrested Jan. 15 after he allegedly attacked a woman with a knife.
Sweetwater Police Officer Kelvin Franco said he went to a house on Johnson Street on a call of shots fired and found a woman and Eddie Borden at the house.
Franco said he secured a gun and a knife and talked to the woman who said she and Borden had been drinking and arguing when Borden allegedly attempted to get physical and she had to throw the knife into a sink to get it away from him.
The woman reportedly told Franco she then ran from Borden to hide from him and he picked up the knife and ran after her. The woman said she closed the door of a room she ran into and said Borden was trying to get in the room and stab her.
Borden allegedly told Franco he did have the knife, but he was only using it in an attempt to get the door open.
The woman told Franco she was scared for her life, so she shot at the bottom of the door with a 25 caliber pistol in an attempt to get him to go away.
Franco said he took the woman’s pistol since she appeared to be intoxicated and told her she could come retrieve it at a later date.
Franco decided Borden was the primary aggressor and arrested him. Borden, 57, was charged with aggravated domestic assault.
