The Sweetwater Utilities Board (SUB) will open its new office to the public at noon on Monday, Sept. 30.
The building and a new warehouse were constructed across from the Sweetwater Fire Hall No. 2 next to SUB’s substation in the Sweetwater Industrial Park.
Work began on the project last July.
Evans-Ailey Construction Company from Clinton was chosen for the construction after submitting a bid of just over $3.4 million to complete the project. That is the same contractor who built the new Sweetwater Junior High gym and classroom addition.
The City of Sweetwater will take over the current SUB office space once the move to the new office is made.
The move into the new facilities comes as SUB celebrated is 80th anniversary in August having first formed as Sweetwater Electric System in 1939.
SUB will close customer service operations at its longtime office on Oak Street next to the Police Station at noon on Friday, Sept. 27, and reopen at the new location at noon on Monday, Sept. 30.
