A Sweetwater area man has been arrested on a charge he raped a teenage girl in August.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Filyaw said on Aug. 21 he went to Sweetwater High School and talked to a counselor who said a student had been told by another student that rape has occurred off campus when Tyler Lynn allegedly told the girl he would kill her entire family unless she had sex with him.

Filyaw said the alleged incident occurred at a house on New Highway 68 on August 20. Filyaw said the girl was taken to a hospital where a forensic interview was done.

Filyaw said through the subsequent investigation, enough evidence was found to charge and arrest Lynn, 20, Hawkins Road, Sweetwater and charge him with rape. Filyaw said Lynn had a violation of probation warrant for his arrest out of Scott County.
