A 10-time convicted felon was arrested Friday on weapon charges.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Fillyaw said officers went to a Mountain View Road home around 3 p.m. and talked to Juanita Melton, who said her brother, Jamie Lee Melton, had fired a .22-caliber rifle and then pointed the gun at her around 2:45 p.m.
Fillyaw said an investigation showed Melton had been convicted 10 times and is on federal probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Officers went to Melton’s home on Mountain View Road with a search warrant and allegedly found the .22-caliber rifle, 465 rounds of .22 ammunition and a 50-round magazine.
Melton, 47, was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
