A man who had surgery on May 7 was arrested after it was discovered he allegedly brought his own drugs to the hospital.
Sweetwater Police Officer Suzanne Ward said she went to Sweetwater Hospital after a call came in saying some unknown drugs had been found in a patient’s room. Ward spoke with two nurses who said Richard Blake Craig had been acting strangely, including at one point locking himself in the bathroom.
The nurses also said Craig had a small, black bag that he kept tucked in his pants, leading them to suspect he might be taking drugs they were not providing.
The nurses told Ward that after Craig was taken into surgery, they were moving his belongings into intensive care and looked through his stuff for both staff and public safety.
The nurses allegedly found several pills, including morphine sulfate, Clonazepam, Alprazolam and small baggie containing a crystal-like substance thought to be meth.
Blake, 41, Valley Trailer Park, Sweetwater, was charged with possession of meth, simple possession of Morphine, simple possession of Clonazepam and simple possession of Alprazolam.
