A Sweetwater man was arrested Feb. 21 after a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy went to check out suspicious people on Sweetwater/Vonore Road.
Deputy Billy Littleton said it was just before 4 a.m. when he was told people were walking around houses on Sweetwater/Vonore Road with a flashlight.
When he arrived in the area, Littleton said he saw two people walking along the road and stopped to talk to them, identifying the man as Jonathan Dale Bailey.
Bailey told Littleton he and the woman had been visiting a friend and on their way home and his truck had run out of gas. Littleton said he could see a truck sitting in a driveway down the road.
Littleton said he told them why he’d stopped and said he needed to pat down Bailey to check for any weapons, but first asked Bailey if he had any weapons or anything Illegal on him. Bailey then reportedly admitted he had a small bag of meth on him.
Littleton said Bailey handed the baggie over and it appeared to have .45 grams of suspected meth in it.
Littleton said he then arrested Bailey, 33, Sweetwater/Vonore Road, Sweetwater, charging him with possession of meth.
