Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 15 can register for kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year.

However, children are not required to start kindergarten in Tennessee until they have reached age 6.

Kindergarten attendance is required by the Tennessee State Board of Education prior to entering first grade.

The remaining dates, times and locations for kindergarten registration are as follows:

Madisonville Primary School on Monday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children whose last name begins with A to M, and Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) applications.

Madisonville Primary School on Tuesday, March 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for children whose last name begins with N to Z, and for VPK applications.

Vonore Elementary School on Wednesday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tellico Plains Elementary on Thursday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Rural Vale Elementary School on Friday, March 20, from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Coker Creek Elementary on Friday, March 20, from noon to 2 p.m.

Sweetwater Primary School on Friday, April 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A certified birth certificate, immunization record and a Social Security card are needed for school entrance and should be present at the time of registration.

Before your child may start school in the fall, a school physical will be required.

If you are unable to attend any of these registrations, call the principal of the school that your child will be attending and submit your child’s name for attendance in the fall.
