A Tellico Plains area man was reportedly shot Oct. 22 after he allegedly violated an order of protection against his ex-wife.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Corporal Clint Brookshire said he went to Fairview Road around 5:30 p.m. on a call of someone being shot in the abdomen. Brookshire said when he arrived on the scene he found a man laying on his right side.
When Brookshire asked the man where he’d been shot, the man reportedly showed him a small hole on the left side of his abdomen, just above his pelvic area.
Brookshire said he administered what first aid he could while waiting for EMS and the man allegedly told him his ex-wife had been the one to shoot him. Brookshire asked him where this had happened and the man said at his ex-wife’s house.
When EMS arrived, Brookshire said he checked and found the ex-wife had an order of protection against her ex-husband.
Brookshire then talked to several witnesses who said the man had been driven to the location where he was found by a young man who jumped out of the car and ran back up the road.
Brookshire had the man’s car towed and turned the investigation over to detectives.
No charges have been filed in the shooting. The man was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.
