County gives $25,000 to Tellico Plains for community development

Monroe County Mayor Mitch Ingram, left, presents Tellico Plains Mayor Patrick Hawkins, right, with a $25,000 check from the county for the town to use for community development. The City Council has requested to use the grant funds for the following: $15,000 towards the town’s matching part of a recreation grant, $5,000 to upgrade the existing park/playground area for resurfacing, and the other $5,000 to resurface city streets and repaint striping.
