Life saving hero honored by Madisonville

Madisonville Mayor Glenn Moser presented a proclamation to Steve Duncan on Monday honoring Duncan’s role in saving the lives of two men who fell into the water near Fort Loudoun Dam on July 29. Moser said Duncan and a friend were able to pull the men out of the water after they were taken under by the strong current of water coming from the spill gate. The men were identified as Ronald Greene and James Rich, both from North Carolina, and while Rich was breathing, Greene wasn’t and Duncan immediately began CPR and was able to revive him before they were transported for medical care. Moser said Duncan and his friend demonstrated great bravery and quick thinking and also had performed the same heroic act in the same area in June 2018. The city recognized the heroic actions of Duncan with the proclamation.
