Roy E. Gurley

Roy E. Gurley of Kingston,
passed away at 1:27 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Parkwest Medical Center. He was
born Dec. 17, 1926 in Tellico Plains and was retired in Rockford, Ill., as a
maintenance electrician. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served
during the Korean War. He was a member of Sweetwater VFW Post 5156 and attended
the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Harriman and Ponders Community Church in
Ten Mile.
He was 82.
Preceded in death by:
parents, Dave and Neppie Gurley; sisters, Rozella, Nannie, Annis and Ellie;
brothers, Herman, Arley, Ulis and Silas.
Survivors include:
daughter-Robin Yates of Spring City;
Son-Tommy Gurley of North
Carolina;
Sister-Ellen Hall of Delano;
Brother-Omer Gurley of
Chattanooga;
Several nieces and nephews;
Loving companion of 27
years-Isa Bea Yates of Kingston.
Funeral services were 2 p.m.,
Friday, in Biereley-Hale Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Yates and Rev. Henry
Anderson officiating. Interment was Saturday, Dec. 23, in Sweetwater Valley Memorial
Park. Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, in charge of arrangements.
