Hannah Margaret McCrary Davis

Hannah Margaret McCrary "Missie" Davis passed away at the
family home, Oct. 23. Born in Philadelphia on Dec. 12, 1919, she was a lifelong
United Methodist. Missie was very active in children's education, teaching
church kindergarten for many years. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont
College and attended Vanderbilt University where she was a member of Delta
Delta Delta Sorority.
She was 89.
Preceded in death by: parents, Alma Lea and Albert Franklin
McCrary; first husband, John Jacob Lutz, a casualty of World War II; second husband
of 52 years, Charles Henry Davis; and son, William Henry Davis.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law-John Jacob
"Jack" Lutz III of Loudon; Charles McCrary "Cary" and Judi Hankins Davis of
Athens; and Nancy Clinton Davis of Knoxville;
Grandchildren and spouses-Margaret Elizabeth "Molly" Davis
and Mark Veness; William Clinton "Clint" and Brittany Harper Davis; Stephanie
Carol "Sunny" Davis and Charles Miller; Jonna Lea Lutz and Dennis Freeman;
Four great-grandchildren;
Close friends were invited to join the family at 10 a.m.,
Monday in Old Steekee Cemetery for interment. A Celebration of Life and
Resurrection was held at 12:30 p.m., at the Loudon United Methodist Church with
Dr. Tony Collins officiating. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Davis may be made
to the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, Office of Development and
Communications, DUMC 3828, Durham, NC, 27710. McGill-Karnes Funeral Home,
Loudon, in charge of arrangements.
