Dr. Larry Jackson Hargis

Dr. Larry Jackson Hargis, passed away Friday, Oct. 23. He
was born May 30, 1948. Dr. Hargis was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking,
fishing, hunting, snow skiing and the beauty of nature. He practiced radiology
for many years in Athens and Etowah. He also practiced in many hospitals
including Oneida and Monticello, Ky., where he lived for the last 10 years,
enjoying his home on the creek.
He was 61.
Preceded in death by: father, Hilman Joe Hargis.
Survivors include: mother-Juanita Lovin Hargis;
Brother-Hilman Joe Hargis, both of Knoxville;
Daughters-Ciara Hargis Phillips and husband, Justin of
Austin, Texas; and Ariel Hargis of Lenoir City.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Monday, at
Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater. They will meet at 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, at New
Providence Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11 a.m., graveside service and
interment with Rev. Allan Watson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater,
in charge of arrangements.
