Joel Ingram Greeson, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Tellico and longtime resident of McMinn County, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019, at his residence. He was the son of the late Joel Arthur Greeson, and was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Manders.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Joel loved fishing, playing cards, and most of all spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids.
He was 65 years old.
Survivors include: his wife, Connie Greeson;
Four daughters and three sons-in-law, Alicia and Dennis Evans, Amber and Clint Weltman, Ashley and Cory Koernke, April Pierce;
Three sons and daughters-in-law, Gabriel and Briana Greeson, Joseph and Natasha Greeson, Benjamin and Brandy Greeson;
Sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren;
Sisters, Pat Stargel, Norma Brady, Carol Nabors
Mother-in-law, whom is like a mother, Wanda Newman, also known as “Na Nas”;
Cousin, Cathy Peters;
Several nieces and nephews;
Special friends, Eleanor Morehead, Darla Rice, Earl Day, Pansy Mathis, Terry Carpenter, Joe Trogdon, and Donovan Pierce.
The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens. The funeral services followed at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home.
