Ford Austin Billingsley Jr. passed away on July 3, 2019, at his home, in Sweetwater. He was a graduate of High Point High School in Sweetwater, and a retired gunnery sergeant in the United States Marine Corp, where he received many medals and accommodations. He also worked after retirement in many job capacities in and around the Sweetwater area. He was known for his unselfishness with his time and willingness to help others. A loving father, who also enjoyed basketball, and working on cars.
He was 68 years old.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Ford Austin Billingsley Sr. and Josephine Upton Billingsley; sisters, Emma Naomi Robinson, Mattie Yvonne Womble.
Survivors include: his two children, Ford Austin Billingsley III, of Baldwin Park, California, Angela Billingsley, of Rancho Santa Margarita, California;
Two grandchildren, Jaylah Monet Moering, Amya Marie Stith;
Special devoted caretaker and nephew, Rodney Branch, of Sweetwater;
Loving nieces, Alydia D. Golson, Monica C.W. Smack, Nicole (Kevin) Davis;
Brother-in-law, Jeffery Allen Womble, of Washington, D.C.;
Ex-wife, Debbie Billingsley, of Irvine, California;
Many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many, many friends.
The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home in Athens. Interment will follow at East Tennessee Veteran Cemetery in Knoxville.
