The Rev. Charles B. Cassady went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church. He was a minister of the Gospel for more than 48 years, pastoring five churches.

Charles was a veteran of the United States Army, and served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was 88 years old.

Preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie and Lula Mae Cassady; two brothers; one sister.

Charles is survived by: his loving wife of 68 years, Lola Cassady, of Sweetwater;

Daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Kenny Mashburn, of Sweetwater;

Son, Tim Cassady, of Kentucky;

Granddaughter and husband, Steffanie and Chad Speck;

Granddaughter, Lacey Mason;

Grandson, Ethan Cassady;

Great-grandsons, Cole and Cooper Speck, Callen Speck;

Great-grandson, Ace Mason;

Great-granddaughter, Addie Belle Mason.

One brother.

The family received friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Kyker Funeral Homes in Sweetwater. The funeral service followed at 7 p.m. in Kyker’s Chapel, with Chad Speck and Dr. Gerald Atkins officiating. Graveside service and interment was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Sweetwater Memorial Park, with military honors provided by the Monroe County Gold Star Post 5156, DAV, and American Legion.
