Joyce Fay Layman, a resident of Niota, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Joyce was currently employed by Sweetwater Hospital Association and known by many as “Operator Joyce.”
She was 72 years old.
Preceded in death by: her parents, Clyde and Ruth Dennis; two sons, Jeff and Mike Layman.
Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband of 54 years, Bruce Layman Jr.;
Daughter-in-law and husband, Shelly and Randy Torbett;
Son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Ginger Layman;
Daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Greg Coleman;
Grandchildren and spouses, Amanda and Gary Bogus, Kimberly and Justin Anderson, Melanie Layman and Nolan Triplett, Cody and Michelle Layman, Chase Layman and Destiny McCammon, Allison Ridenour, Hannah Ridenour, Aaron Coleman, Promise Coleman;
Great-grandchildren, Walker Bogus, Hayden Layman, Nathan Layman;
Numerous other extended family members, coworkers and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, March 9, 2019, at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, located at 1803 County Road 250 in Niota. A celebration of her life service will follow the visitation time, with the Rev. Martin Bowlin, the Rev. Bill Dawson, and the Rev. Clayton Dunsmore officiating. The interment and graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 10, 2019, in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Derek McCosh, Cody Layman, Chase Layman, Gary Bogus, Justin Anderson, Nolan Triplett, J.L. Barnett, and Kenny Wilkins.
