Linda Joan Phillips Arden, of Niota, went home on May 9, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born on Aug. 16, 1943, in Sweetwater, to the late Jack and Cora Lee Schrimsher Phillips. She was a member of Murray’s Baptist Church, and attended Cedar Valley Baptist Church.

She was 75 years old.

Preceded in death by: her husband, the Rev. Bobby Arden; sisters, Carlene Ballew, Shirley Kyle; brothers, Charles Edward Phillips, Dennie Phillips, Doug Phillips.

Survivors include: her children and their spouses, Cindy and Kenny Benton, of Athens, Duwayne Arden, of Athens, Linda Arden, of Niota, Chris and Ginger Arden, of Riceville, Michael and Ammie Arden, of Niota;

Nine grandchildren, Jessica (TJ) Wilson, Jeremy (Brooke) Benton, Matt (Ashli) Arden, Krista Arden, Emily (Josh) Brown, Zach (Hailey) Arden, Hannah (Dakota) Reynolds, Wyatt Arden and Marley Arden;

Eight great-grandchildren, Jade, Addie, Kallie, Jude, Connor, Zoe, George and Journey;

Sisters, Lois (Robert) Goodman, Wanda Presley, Brenda Phillips, Jackie (Harold) Ervin, Verna (George) Paul, Debbie (Sammy) Baines;

Brothers, JD (Sandy) Phillips, Jimmy Phillips;

Sister-in-law, Dawn Phillips;

Numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank NHC of Athens and Hospice of Chattanooga for caring for our loving mother, grandmother, and sister, during this difficult time.

The family will meet at noon on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Companion Funeral Home in Athens, and go in procession to Murray’s Baptist Church Cemetery. A graveside memorial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the cemetery, with the Rev. Joel Tilson officiating.
