Carl Edgar Lichlyter, age 80, of Englewood, passed away peacefully at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was of the Church of God faith.
Carl was a native of Monroe County and a longtime resident of McMinn County. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Other than spending time with his family, he enjoyed camping, going to the beach, working in his yard and reading his Bible. He also enjoyed watching UT football games.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Ruth Aretta (Harris) Lichlyter; parents, Noah Lichlyter and Ella Mae (Farner) Lichlyter; brothers, Donald Lichlyter and Bill Lichlyter.
Survivors include: his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Helen Lichlyter, of Englewood;
Daughters and sons-in-law, Carlessa and Thomas DeBord, of Cleveland, and Marketta and Paul Johnson, of Etowah;
Five grandchildren and spouses, Casey Watson, Kristen and Drew Whitehead, Kelly and Blake Lambert, Caleb and Ale DeBord, and Alexus Johnson;
Seven great-grandchildren, Landon, Brayden, Tanner, Samantha, Lucy, Zara and Zoe;
Several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Tellico Plains. The funeral followed at 2 p.m. in the Biereley-Hale Chapel with Rev. Zack Davis officiating. Interment was at Center Presbyterian Church’s cemetery.
