Loeta Underwood Dockery, widow of Clifford Charlie Dockery, of Tellico Plains, passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at U.T. Medical Center.
She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church, where she served as the secretary and treasurer for more than 30 years. She retired from Monroe County Schools after 25 years of service at Rural Vale School, where she was known as the tooth puller. Her hobbies included gardening, farming, crocheting, quilting and basket making.
She was 88 years old.
Preceded in death by: her son, Clifford Van Dockery; parents, Edgar Cicero Underwood and Sally Louise Pittman Underwood; brother, Jack Lamar Underwood.
Survivors include: her daughter, Jalayne Dockery Davis Johnson, of Madisonville;
Son and daughter-in-law, Bob Edgar and Kim Dockery, of Tellico Plains;
Grandchildren, Jeff Dockery (Kim), of Alabama, Kim Dockery Powell (Peter), of Franklin, Shellie Davis Mitchell (Bill), of Madisonville, Nancy Davis Miller (Jason), of Athens, Melissa Locke and fiancé, Eric Schimmoeller, of Knoxville, Gage Ingram and fiancée, Shaylyn Dicandio, of Tellico Plains;
Great-grandchildren, Krystal Dockery, Matthew Powell, Cody Dockery, Jorden Dockery Barnes, Bryce Mitchell, Tristan Miller, Chloe Miller, Kaitlynn Hatfield, Emma Hatfield, Summer Hatfield, Sarah Beth Locke, Zack Locke;
Sister, Sarah “Jane” Underwood Frerichs, of Madisonville;
Brother and sister-in-law, Mack Delano and Mary Underwood, of Lacey’s Spring, Ala.;
Several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Tellico Plains. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. in Biereley-Hale Chapel, with Jeff Pike and the Rev. Gale Miller officiating. Interment was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, in DeHart Cemetery.
