Bennett “Benny” Bryant, of Niota, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the family home.

He was a member of Union McMinn Baptist Church of Niota, and retired from the McMinn County Highway Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Bennett enjoyed collecting, restoring, and cruising classic cars.

He was 70 years old.

Preceded in death by: his parents, George and Faye Bryant; brothers, Dale “Sonny” Wilkey, Scotty Bryant.

Survivors include: his wife of 33 years, Janet Bryant, of Niota;

Daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Tim Ratledge, of Riceville;

Son, Billy Bryant, of Athens;

Daughter and son-in-law, Kristal and Bobby Hill, of Sweetwater;

Grandchildren, Cami and Will Ratledge, Amber and Kayla Duggan, Tate Hill;

Sisters and brother-in-law, Pat and Joe Toomey, of Niota, Donna Hicks, of Athens;

Brothers, Gary Bryant, of Boerne, Texas, Mike Bryant, of Athens;

Stepmother, Margie Bryant, of Etowah;

Mother-in-law, Mary “Porky” Cagle, of Sweetwater;

Best friend and companion, Jake, his beloved boxer;

Several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Kyker Funeral Homes in Sweetwater. A celebration of life will follow at 7 p.m. in Kyker’s Chapel, with the Rev. Ronnie Cook and the Rev. David Huskey officiating.
