During the last year I have been trying to lose weight and get in better shape. I have lost a good amount of weight. Although, I did gain a little back over the holidays, snow days and Nelson's surgery days but I am trying hard to get it back off.

I have been very proud of myself. I have felt like I could do almost anything.

Last year I really wanted to play on our church's softball tram but I knew I was too heavy to get out there and run. I can run now if I need to but I am not ready for a marathon by any means.

Sunday morning Pastor Andrew announced that the team was getting together at the field to practice and anyone was welcome to join. So I went.

I was a little put off by the fact that I was the only girl there that was planning to play. Pastor said another girl was playing, she just couldn't make it that evening. OK, I'll play.

First up to bat was Chance Plaugher. He was hitting them way out there. Then next up was my brother-in-law John Cranfill; I know he can hit.

By this time I was thinking maybe I was in a little over my head.

After John was Wesley Rowland, Brandon Owens, Ryan Davidson, Brad Davidson, Greg Cleveland, our Pastor Andrew Templeton, Tom Foster and I know there was one more but I can't remember his name. All the guys on the team were heavy hitters.

I made up my mind that I was quitting before it ever got started. They were too tough for me. Especially when one person was hit in the face with a ball and it split the top of his nose. He thought it was broken but I think they decided it was not. I have had enough sports related injuries in my family for a while.

Big Nelson is going to play with them. I'll just sit on the bleachers with the other ladies and cheer for our boys and the one girl Pastor says is going to play but I am still not convinced she will.

We will have many weeks and weekends full of softball this year. John plays on a team and they do tournaments quite often during the year, Emily plays for the Lady Cats and now Big Nelson is playing on our church's team.

We may not want to ever see another softball game after this summer!
