John Carter is finally here. He came into the world kicking and screaming at 6:13 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30.
They started Kayla's induction Thursday at noon. She finally started having contractions at 5 a.m. on Friday morning and by 3 p.m. she was 10 centimeters dilated.
It was a fairly easy labor but a difficult delivery.
He weighed 8 lbs. 1 and 3/4 ounces, was 19 inches long and had a 14 inch head.
Kayla did great. She was strong through the whole thing. She will be a great mommy to him. I am so proud of her.
He is just beautiful. He is so cuddly. As you can see he has a perfect round face and a little pug nose. I knew he would be cute but I had no idea he would be this gorgeous.
Right now he just sleeps, poops and cries but soon we will be able to have fun with him.
I don't think Kayla realized how much work he would be but she is learning fast.
My family and I want to thank Dr. Beverley for everything she did for us during this whole pregnancy. She was great and I would recommend her to anyone. She was very patient with us, even though I know it was hard for her sometimes.
Thank you to all the nurses in labor and delivery that worked from Thursday, Dec. 29-Sunday, Jan. 1. I don't remember all your names but we could not have asked for better nurses. Each of you were very helpful no matter how trivial our need was.
I would say I will keep you informed about John Carter's growth, but this will be my last regular column. I am still going to be here at The Advocate but they have decided to cut some of the columns to make room for more news stories and I didn't get picked to stay as a weekly column.
I have enjoyed writing my column for the past few years and I have especially liked hearing from my fans. Hahaha, yes Angie, I do have fans.
I can be reached at The Advocate & Democrat each day or by e-mail at email@example.com, or look me up on Facebook. Thank you all for reading The Advocate & Democrat.
