Edward Henderson Burrhead

Edward Thomas Henderson (June 20, 2008) Edward Thomas Henderson, affectionately known as “Burrhead”by Sweetwater residents, passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 20, atSweetwater Hospital, after a lengthy illness. His lovely wife, “Miss Ellen,”(nee Woods of Niota, died in 2000). Burr was the son of Claude and Maude BrowderHenderson of Chattanooga, formerly of Sweetwater. He was a member of Sweetwater First United Methodist Church; owned his own cab service, known as Burr’s Cab and retired from the Fire Department. He was 88. Preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Fannie Rhea Peck of East Ridge and June Lyons of Rock Springs, Ga. Left to cherish his memory and his antics include: brothers and sisters-in-law-Clarence and Pat of Marietta, Ga.; and Bill and Charlotte o fRinggold, Ga.; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law-Sam and Joan Woods ofRockford; A number of nieces and nephews and a host of long-time friends. The family wishes to give sincere thanks to all the staff at Sweetwater Nursing Center, Sweetwater Hospital and especially Dr. Thomas Evan sfor their excellent, compassionate care. Funeral services were 7 p.m., Sunday, June 22, in Kyker’s Chapel, with the Rev. Julian Walton officiating. Family and friends met at Monday morning at West View Cemetery for graveside and interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sweetwater Nursing Center, 978 Hwy. 11South, Sweetwater, TN 37874. Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, in charge ofarrangements.
