Staff Sgt. J.B. Thompson

Staff Sgt. J.B. Thompson (Boggie) of Vonore, passed away at 2:27 a.m., Friday, June 27, at home. He retired from the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corp., having served in Korea, two tours in Vietnam, also Germany and Panama. He was retired from Lennut & Co., as a foreman, where he worked for 20 years. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

He was 77.

Preceded in death by: parents, Harold (Red) and BlancheThompson; sister, Virginia Kimsey; and brother, Ivan H. Thompson.

Survivors include: wife of 54 years-Mary Murphy Thompson;

Daughters and sons-in-law-Debra and Willard Huskey of Townsend; Donna Thompson of Sweetwater; Diana and Greg Wojnowski of Sevierville; Dale Marie Thompson of Friendsville; and Mary Gail and Jeff McMillan of Vonore;

Grandchildren-Joseph Aaron Thompson, Ashley Wojnowski, Matthew and Patrick McMillan, John Huskey and Amanda Leatherwood;

Great-granddaughters-Gracie and Emarie;

Niece-Patti Jack;

Great-nephew-Dillan Jack, both of Las Vegas, Nev.;

Great-niece-Angie Green of Etowah;

Special cousin-Beatrice Meadors of Greenback;

Special friend-Rick Crawford of Vonore.

Rosary service will be 8 p.m., Sunday, at Biereley-Hale Chapel. Graveside and interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, at Oakland United Methodist Cemetery, with Father Peter Iorio and Rev. Jarvis Bivens officiating, with military honors. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., before the services on Sunday. Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, in charge of arrangements.
