Ray A. Swanson

Ray A. Swanson of Tellico Plains, passed away at 7:45 a.m., Sunday, June 28, at Sweetwater Hospital. He was a member of Altoona Baptist Church, a member of American Legion Post #240; and a veteran of Korean War.

He was 78.

Preceded in death by: wife, Patricia Doris Smith Swanson; parents, John F. and Vera Mae Hitson Swanson; sister, Esther Taylor; and brothers, Arvil, Arnold and Melvin Swanson.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law-Jennifer Lee and Nathan Davis;

Sons and daughter-in-law-Don and Francene Swanson and John Paul Swanson, all of Tellico Plains;

Grandchildren and spouses-Lacey and Joshua Woods, Brittany and Will Dalton, Courtney Swanson, Anthony Davis, Sarah Davis, Mary Beth Swanson and Emily Swanson;

Great-grandchildren-Rylan Woods and Amille Davis;

Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Tuesday, in Biereley-Hale Chapel, with the Rev. Mickey Payne and Rev. David Chambers officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, in Altoona Cemetery with military honors provided by Sweetwater VFW Post #5156 and DAV Chapter #93. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., before the funeral. Biereley-Hale Chapel, Tellico Plains, in charge of arrangements.
