Cory Wallace Stewart, 34, Hall Street, Vonore, was arrested on June 10 and charged with statutory rape for having sex with a 17-year-old female. 

Stewart’s wife and girlfriend told Vonore officers that he left his residence with the juvenile to go have sex with her. Stewart’s wife said he saw her husband touching the girl at their house. She said she thought he was trying to make her and Stewart’s girlfriend jealous. 

While speaking to Stewart’s wife and girlfriend, officers John Michael Priest and Eric Watson saw the juvenile drop off Stewart at the back door. After questioning him, the officers asked Stewart to leave the house for the night because all parties seemed to be extremely intoxicated. After the case was turned over to Vonore Detective Earl Long, Stewart was arrested.
