(Last modified: 2008-06-11 09:08:43) The Downtown Madisonville Association has announced the Parade of Flags event will run June 21 through July 18. The event will honor or memorialize American citizens, either in the military or just plain good citizens, by flying an American flag for that person during the Fourth of July week. The flags will be flown on the Monroe County Courthouse yard area and City Hall. Each flag and its pole, along with an identifying name plaque, will be available to purchase from the Downtown Association for $25. On July 18, the flags will be removed and can be picked up by the purchaser at Madisonville City Hall. All proceeds will be used to improve and beautify the downtown area. Join us in saluting these important Americans who have made our lives and country great. To purchase a flag, call Susan Saunders at 442-1975; Linda G. Hensley at 442-9479; Ken White at 442-9000; and Ellen Thomas at E Gallery at 420-1016; or the Madisonville City Hall at 442-9416 and ask for the Parade of Flags information. This event is a cooperative effort by the Downtown Madisonville Association, Monroe County and the City of Madisonville. Copyright © 2008, The Advocate and Democrat |
