Looking to get away? Do you enjoy camping? Barbecue? At Witherspoon’s Hog Heaven Resort you can enjoy all that and more. With homestyle barbecue beef briskets, barbecue pork sandwiches, several house specialties, and their own recipe of sweet barbecue sauce, you’ll feel right at home.

In addition to great food, you can rent a cabin fully accommodated with a grill and swing on the porch, king-size and futon beds, single bath with shower, air conditioning and electronics including refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and an HDTV with satellite receiver.
Karen Hamilton of Tellico Plains said after trying other barbecue restaurants, none compare to Witherspoon’s great taste and variety.

Owner Don Witherspoon has turned his long-term hobby into a business. He is licensed through the state of Tennessee and Monroe County for food served, campground and rental properties.
As of May 29, Witherspoon has been in business for seven weeks. The resort caters to locals and tourists, and all are welcome. They receive many motorcyclists who stop in while on vacation.
Witherspoon and his wife, Judy, said, “We like the mountains, the area, and these are nice people. Tellico is a great town, and best of all, there aren’t many traffic lights.”

Witherspoon is originally from East Ohio. He moved to Florida in 1988 and owned a pest control business in Clearwater, which is where he met Judy.
Jokingly, he admits, “Somehow I landed halfway back to Ohio from Florida, so they call me a halfback.”
Hog Heaven Resort is located at 535 Mecca Pike in Tellico Plains.
Hours are from 11 a.m. until closing (when the last customer is full).
