Monroe County Senior Citizens once again made their home county proud in the District Southeast Senior Games.

The games were held in McMinn County April 26-May 4 and the 37 participants brought home medal after medal in events ranging from bowling to golf.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee sponsored the games which are open to everyone from age 50 and up. Participants can take part in as many events as they wish to enter.
Monroe County participants who brought home medals included:

James Sneed – Bowling, fourth place
James Sneed and Raymond Sneed – doubles bowling, first place
James Sneed and Sandy Hess – mixed bowling, first place
Freddie Atkins – first place in long jump, 800m run, 1,500m run, 5k run, 200m run, 400m run; second place in power walk and 100m run
D.E. Howard – Rook, fourth place
R. Howard Harvey – golf, third place
Betty Barnett – first place in table tennis doubles, pickleball singles, shot put, softball throw, javelin, racquetball, racquetball doubles, table tennis singles; second place in horseshoes, basketball hot shot, basketball free throw, basketball three point shot, discus
