Monroe County Sheriff’s Detective Travis Jones said it isstandard procedure for investigators to look into a home invasion shooting.

“Once the investigation is done, we will turn everythingover to the D.A.’s office,” Jones said.

The detective said it will then be up to the districtattorney to decide whether to present a case to a grand jury and even then thegrand jury has the option not to indict Fryer.

Jones said he and Detective Mike Morgan took 32 pieces ofevidence to the TBI crime lab in Nashville.

Investigators are awaiting results of lab tests on thatevidence before meeting with the D.A.

Jones said the detectives want to see if ballistic and otherevidence corroborates statements taken from Fryer and another man who policesaid broke into the home with Self, James Ray Cheek.

Cheek was able to escape from Fryers’ home but was capturedby the Sheriff’s Office a few minutes later.
