The Coker Creek Chapter of the Gold Prospectors of America,will present its annual Kids Day on the Creek at 9 a.m., Saturday, July 19, for ages 5-17. Parent or guardian must be present and everything is free. Lunch will be provided for children and adults may purchase it for $5 or less.

Children will learn to prospect for gold using gold pans, high bankers, dredges and sluice boxes and if time allows, metal detectors, too. At the end of the day, all gold found will be divided between the participants.

While prospecting, children will be in the water and getting wet and dirty. A change of clothes is recommended. A drawing for prizes will be at the end of the day.

It will be held at the new GPAA property in Coker Creek, 13431 Hwy. 68, Coker Creek. From I-75, take Hwy. 68 East through Tellico Plains and follow south about 12 miles. Follow signs marking the turn from Hwy. 68 to the main gate.
