One Sweetwater man remained in critical condition at UT Medical Center Tuesday and another man is charged with two counts of attempted murder after he rammed his truck into Jimmy Cozart at a residence on Sweetwater-Vonore Road Sunday afternoon, police said.

Sweetwater Police Detective John Scruggs said Lamont Robinson, 34, McCaslin Avenue, is in divorce proceedings with his wife.

Robinson drove over to her Sweetwater-Vonore Road home late Sunday afternoon then the trouble began, the investigator said.

Scruggs said Robinson drove his vehicle toward his wife and Cozart in the garage and in the process, pinned Cozart between his vehicle and a car parked in the garage.

The detective said Cozart, suffered compound fractures in one of his legs, broken ribs, a collapsed lung, broken bones in his face and neck, a broken arm and other injuries.

Robinson stands charged with two counts of attempted murder and vandalism over $10,000.

Scruggs said Robinson also hit Cozart’s Mustang parked in the yard.

His bond was set at $160,000 Monday but Scruggs said Robinson was able to make his bail and is currently out of jail.
