They tallied one more run before Tellico made the third out.
The Bears also got off to a good start putting four runs on the board with hits from Keaton Stakley, Lucas Pilkey, Josh Cain, Ean Tate, Jacob Brinkley and Piper Carter.

The second inning remained scoreless with great defense from both teams. Tellico turned a triple play as Eli Shaw caught a pop fly, throwing to Zach Haynes on second, who then tossed the ball to Pilkey on first which got both runners who left early.
Greenback’s John Clayton scored in the third on another Tellico error. The Plainsmen added five runs this inning with assistance from Pilkey and Tate’s doubles.
The fourth inning started with Tellico ahead 9-3, but Greenback came alive to cut the lead when five runners crossed home plate.

Moses, Nick Spicer, Hunter Kilgore and Clayton showed their batting strength and Tellico had a tough time on defense containing them.
Tellico then collected four more runs in the fourth and fell silent in the fifth.
An exciting sixth inning brought both sets of fans to their feet.
It began when Greenback tied up the game as Trevor Divine smacked a double and Jake Allison landed a triple.

Tellico’s field allowed two other runners to score before they found a much-needed third out. Hunter Smith helped the Bears by hitting hard and reaching base, hoping to be the winning run.
Jesse Lambert connected with the ball, but sent Smith to the dugout on a fielder’s choice.
Greenback’s defense snagged the second out with hopes to send this game into extra innings, but Tellico’s Shaw had other plans.
He ripped a hit up the middle scoring Lambert and leading Tellico to capture the 7-8 year old sub-district title.

Both teams move on the district tournament in Kingston beginning tonight. Greenback will play at 6:00 p.m. and Tellico at 7:30 p.m.
