East Tennessee State University has named the recipients of  $3,000 Academic Officers Transfer Academic Performance Scholarships for 2008-2009. Eligible students must be Tennessee residents coming from two-year institutions where they have exhibited scholastic excellence. Local recipient of this award is Landon Saffles, son of Joseph and Tammy Saffles of Sweetwater, who transferred to ETSU from Cleveland State Community College to study social work.
