A traffic stop for an outstanding violation of probation warrant led to multiple drug charges in Madisonville.

On Tuesday, Monroe County Sheriff’s Officer David Wear charged Matthew Todd Pesterfield, 27, Patterson Lane, Madisonville, with promoting the manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule II drug (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wear stopped Pesterfield’s car at the Pilot gas station in Madisonville, according to warrants, because he knew the suspect was wanted for violation of probation.

Wear received permission to check the vehicle and allegedly found a cigarette pack that contained a white powder believed to be methamphetamine along with three used syringes.
The officer said he also discovered an unopened box of Pseudo ephedrine pills, which the driver claimed were his.

A passenger in Pesterfield’s car was also charged.
Wear charged Glen Jerlyn Baxley, 42, County Road 409, Madisonville, with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
