(Last modified: 2008-05-15 12:03:25) Madisonville Police Chief Gregg Breeden said Robert
“Speedy” Stevens and his brother Roger were arrested at a home on Meadowview Lane after they spent the past month selling crack cocaine and cocaine to undercover informants. “They had both moved just outside of town,” Breeden said, “but they were selling their drugs in Madisonville and also in Sweetwater.” Breeden said there wasn’t a lot of drugs recovered Monday but there had been quite a bit passed back and forth over the past month. There were also several weapons and two vehicles seized. “This will probably put a dent in the crack and cocaine trade in Sweetwater and Madisonville for a little while,” Breeden said. “We’re glad to take them off the street.” A third person, Sterling Davis, was also arrested after he pulled up while the raid was happening. “We’re not really sure what he wanted, because when he saw us, he took off,” Breeden said. “We went after him. It wasn’t really a high speed chase. We followed him to his mother’s house next to Houston Park where he stopped and surrendered and we found marijuana on him.” Monroe County Sheriff’s Drug Officer Conway Mason taped several informants buying the drugs from the Stevens brothers, leading to the search warrant for the house. “Except for Davis driving off, it was a pretty low key arrest,” Breeden said. “None of them gave us any trouble.” Robert Stevens, 36, is charged with four counts of the sale and delivery of a Schedule II narcotic. Roger Stevens, 35, is charged with two counts of the sale and delivery of a Schedule II narcotic and Sterling Davis, 33, Old Cemetery Road, Madisonville, is charged with possession of marijuana and evading arrest. michael.thomason@advocateanddemocrat.com | 442- 4575.
