The Monroe County Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for March 23, 2010 has been cancelled for lack of a business agenda for this month.

The Monroe County Finance Department invites sealed bids for the Monroe County Highway Dept, County General, Monroe County Solid Waste Dept., and the Monroe Co. Board of Education for the following supplies for the fourth quarter (April 1, 2010-June 30, 2010) of the 2009/2010 fiscal year, as authorized by the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners.

Sealed bids will be received until 10:00 a.m. (EST), local time prevailing, March 26, 2010, athe the Monroe County Finance Department, 103 College Street South, Madisonville, TN 37354, at which time the Monroe County Purchasing Committee will meet to publicly open and read the bids. Bid packets may be picked up and returned to the Monroe County Finance Department, 103 College Street, Suite 9, Madisonville, TN 37354.
 
Bids will be awarded accordingly as prescribed by law which states "lowest and best." A Supreme Court ruling states that the discerning of best lies soleky on those requesting the bid and not the bidder. The right is also reserved to refuse any and all bids.

The Monroe County Board of Education will meet in a budget workshop, Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. in the Boardroom at the Director's of Schools' Office. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss the 2010-11 Monroe County School System budget.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
ON
USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT WATERLINE APPLICATION
 
Monroe County will hold a public meeting to discuss its intent to prepare and submit an appplication to the USDA Rural Development Agency for grant and loan funds to extend portable water from the Sweetwater and the Madisonville Water Systems into several areas of the county. The meeting will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the JP Kennedy Building, located at 103 College Street South Madisonville, TN 37354.
 
The purpose of the meeting is to present an outline of the proposed project scope--- the location of proposed waterlines extension, the estimated project cost, and the requested grant and loan funds to undertake the project without causing a financial hardship on our county residents and the municipal water systems.
 
The JP Kennedy Building is a handicapped accessible facility.
