TELLICO PLAINS LADY BEARS 79, TENNESSEE CHRISTIAN 25
The Lady Bears had no trouble handing Tennessee Christian a 79-25 loss Tuesday night at Tellico Plains. Every player saw multiple minutes on the floor and numerous Lady Bears found their way to the basket to put points on the board. TN Christian had a spunky little team of young ladies who never gave up and worked hard to get the ball down the floor and to the basket, but the Lady Bears were just too strong and easily dominated the Lady Hawks. It was Chloe Yearwood that opened the first quarter on fire with 12 points. Yearwood would lead the team for the night with 18 total points and added two more 3-pointers to her record. Both Samantha Russell and Kori Hamilton added 13 points each in the over-powering win. Jaden Hollingshead was the other Lady Bear in double digits with 11 of her own. Chloe Ratledge landed 6, Tess Pearson added 4 and both Mattie Burnette and Joell Stinnett put in 3 each. Four Lady Bears added a bucket for 2 each: Alyana Hensley, Trinity Lance, Maggie Hooper and Karsen Hunt. These girls are exciting to watch and their fan base continues to grow. The fans look forward to the rest of the season and for sure are excited about post season play.
The Lady Bears improve their record to 18-1 and were set to take on Sale Creek on Friday.

Tellico’s Jesse Lambert opened the boys’ game with a 3-pointer and soon connected for another long range shot the next few trips down the floor. Teammate Piper Carter added a 3 as well this frame along with two more field goals. The Bears took a 19-13 lead at the end of the first. Tennessee Christian played a tight first quarter and didn’t want to see the Bears get too far out of reach like they did the last time these two teams met. It was the second stanza when the Bears began to pull away, they outscored the Hawks 20 to 10, with Carter scoring 11 of the teams 20 points this quarter. The Bears went to the locker room with a 16 point lead.
For several games throughout the year the Bears haven’t play their best ball in the third quarter, but this game was not par for the course as they added 28 points to take a commanding lead at the end of the third. It was sophomore Evan Harris who scored all 14 of his points in the third and junior Dale Rinehart with 8 points to lead their team into a 67-36 score, before heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, some of the younger players finally saw time on the floor. Major Carter came off the bench and nailed a 3 as the Bears ended the game winning 79-41.
Scoring for the Bears was as follows: Piper Carter 22, Dale Rinehart 15, Evan Harris 14, Jesse Lambert 12, Caleb Bivens 6, Major Carter 3, Logan Cox 2, Kobe Walker 2, Eli Johnson 2, Dylan Walker 1.
The Bears face district foes Sale Creek on Friday night for Homecoming ceremonies.
