The wins keep coming for the Tellico Plains girls basketball team.
Losses? They’re nowhere to be found.
The Lady Bears’ undefeated streak continued on Tuesday, with Tellico notching a dominant 49-16 win over Copper Basin in a District 4-A matchup. With the victory, Tellico moved to 9-0 on the season, with a 4-0 record in district play.
Kori Hamilton and Joell Stinnett led the Lady Bears in scoring with 14 points each. Tellico connected on seven total 3-pointers on Tuesday, four of which came from Hamilton.
The Lady Bears led 11-2 at the end of the first quarter and extended that advantage to 30-10 by halftime. They allowed just six total points in the final two periods, including just two in the third quarter.
Tellico also kept Copper Basin from hitting any 3-pointers.
Copper Basin 47, Tellico Plains boys 38
The Bears found less success than the Lady Bears did on Tuesday.
Tellico lost 47-38 to district foe Copper Basin in a game that the Bears (5-4, 2-2 District 4-A) trailed throughout.
Copper Basin (10-4, 3-0) led 12-8 by the conclusion of the first quarter, then held a 20-15 advantage heading into halftime. The Cougars’ highest-scoring point came during the third period, when Copper Basin tallied 16 points to lead 36-37 at the end of the quarter.
Tellico also scored its most points in the third quarter, totaling 12. The Bears performed better offensively out of the locker room, scoring 23 points in the third and fourth periods.
Evan Harris had an impressive outing for Tellico despite the loss. He scored 22 points, accounting for more than half of the Bears’ total offense and 16 points more than Tellico’s second-leading scorer.
