Volleyball teams go 1-3 last week

The Sequoyah Lady Chiefs continued their hot streak to begin this past week, winning in three sets (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) over Meigs County on Tuesday, Sept. 3. They then fell in four sets to Loudon (18-25, 25-20, 16-25, 18-25) on Thursday, Sept. 5. The Tellico Plains Lady Bears dropped matches to Copper Basin and Polk County on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. Sequoyah was scheduled to host Kingston on Tuesday, Sept. 10, while Tellico was set to play at Loudon on Monday, Sept. 9, and at home versus Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Soccer Lady Wildcats beat Lady Bears, Lady Chiefs lose

The Sweetwater Lady Wildcats blanked the Tellico Plains Lady Bears 9-0 on the soccer pitch Thursday, Sept. 5. Meanwhile, the Sequoyah Lady Chiefs fell 4-1 to McMinn Central in their opening match of District 7-AA play. The Lady Chiefs were next scheduled to play at Polk County on Tuesday, Sept. 10, while the Lady Wildcats were set to face Sequatchie County away on Monday, Loudon away on Tuesday and Harriman at home on Thursday, and the Lady Bears would host Greenback on Monday.

Junior Chiefs, Bears notch first victories

Both the Sequoyah Junior Chiefs and the TPJHS Junior Bears football teams picked up their first wins in their respective program histories on Thursday, Sept. 5. Sequoyah topped Chilhowee 12-7, while Tellico beat McMinn County 40-0. The SJHS Junior Cats fell 12-6 to McMinn Central on Thursday as well. This week, the Junior Bears will host the Junior Chiefs in a county matchup on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m., and the Junior Cats will play at Norris at 7 p.m.
