Friday night was Homecoming at the Chop House and the Kingston Yellowjackets paid a visit to take on the Lady Chiefs and Chiefs. Olivia White and Trey Howard were crowned Homecoming Queen and King between a tough loss for the Lady Chiefs and a solid win for the Chiefs.

The girls’ game was close early but the Jackets kept the Lady Chiefs at arm’s length throughout the better part of the game and closed to a 52-37 win.

Mallorie Harrell was the only Lady Chief in double figures with 15 points. Abbey Borden grabbed 5 rebounds for tops on the team and Lauren Belcher and Hannah Carroll each had 3 assists for team highs.

Lady Chief scoring: Harrell- 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 3 steals; Carroll- 8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals; Borden- 6 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist; Belcher- 5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals; Jessee Weese- 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal; Grace Wiggins- 1 point, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block; Madison Miner- 1 rebound, 1 block; Macy Miner- 2 rebounds.

The Chiefs got out to a great start and pushed the lead out to double digits only to see the Jackets’ quick trapping create several turnovers to get them back in the game. The Chiefs never let them get closer than 3 points, however, and closed the door late at the foul line for a 73-64 win.

Trevor Stakely was the main catalyst for the Chiefs posting a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds for the night. Earning tops for the team in both with Joe Grant sharing the rebound totals with 10 as well.

John Douglas Wiggins dished out 6 of the team’s 19 assists for the game with he and Stakely both recording 2 blocks as well.

The largest cheer during the game was when senior Hank Harrell took the court in the third quarter for the first time this season after recovering from a severe knee injury at the very beginning of football season back in August.

The cheers got even bigger when Hank touched the ball the first time and cooly responded by draining a 3-pointer. Regardless of the win, it was great to see him back on the court.
