Sequoyah Chiefs

The Sequoyah football team runs onto the field before its game against Howard on Friday, Oct. 11.

With the county football season now over, several Sequoyah football players have garnered Region 2-4A awards.

Seniors Johnathan Chancellor, Matt Lee and Evan Swanson and junior Justice Benson were all named to the All-Region team.

Chancellor was a standout lineman for the Chiefs this season, while Lee made his mark as one of Sequoyah’s go-to receivers.

Swanson served as the Chiefs’ workhorse running back and the leader of its linebacking corps on defense. Benson was one of Sequoyah’s best offensive players, catching passes at the tight end position while also getting carries in the running game late in the season.

Dorian Munoz represented Sequouah on the Region 2-4A All-Academic Team.

The Chiefs finished the 2019 season, their first under head coach Ryan Bolinger, with a loss at Anderson County on Nov. 1.
