The Sweetwater Junior High School boys basketball team’s hot run came to an end on a snowy Saturday.

The Junior Cats fell 42-34 to Chuckey-Doak in the semifinal round of the Section 1-AA Tournament. Snow fell early on the day of the game, which had already been postponed due to weather, but it wasn’t enough to keep the teams from taking the court.

During a tournament run that stretched from Feb. 1, Sweetwater defeated Unicoi 34-18 in the first round and bested Northview 49-33 in the second to advance to the semifinal game.

With the win over the Junior Cats, Chuckey-Doak moved on to face Robertsville in the sectional title game.

The loss concluded a stellar season for Sweetwater that saw the team accumulate a 23-3 overall record.
