The Tellico Plains boys and girls basketball teams were on the same page Tuesday. Both the Bears and the Lady Bears defeated Oakdale at home, ensuring they would head into their respective Thanksgiving break with the momentum that comes from a win.
The Lady Bears led the Lady Eagles 22-4 at the end of the first quarter, then extended that advantage to 43-10 by halftime.
Oakdale found more offensive success in the second half, scoring 13 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth; Tellico Plains, though, kept up its strong play, producing 34 points across the final two periods to ultimately the 77-37 win.
Chloe Ratledge led the Lady Bears with 15 points, followed by Kori Hamilton with 10.
Tellico’s boys team faced a tighter game against the Eagles, leading by just one point, 17-16, at the conclusion of the first quarter.
The Bears entered halftime with a 30-24 advantage.
Tellico again outscored Oakdale by just one point in the third quarter, with the Bears scoring 19 to the Eagles’ 18.
