Amy Duncan is serving at the Cap-Haitian Children’s Home in Haiti this summer. The picture shows her at church with children from the orphanage on May 25. She is holding Sony Joseph, the newest addition to CHCH. He is about 3 and a half and is a true orphan, as both of his parents are dead.
Duncan traveled with a team from Lipscomb University in Nashville, arriving on May 6. The team returned after one week, but Amy is staying until July 1 to continue volunteering at the orphanage. Upon return, she will be attending the Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City with plans to become a missionary doctor.
Duncan graduated from Sequoyah High School in May 2004 and received her degree in biology from Lipscomb on May 3, 2008. She has a passion for the people in Haiti and is hopeful that more people will become knowledgeable about the vast needs of this group.
She is the daughter of Dennis and Becky Duncan, granddaughter of Henry and Joyce Duncan, Imogene Dean, and the late Ralph Dean, Sr., all of Vonore. Duncan’s church, Little Toqua Baptist Church will be hosting a benefit singing on June 28, at 7 p.m. to help support God’s work in Haiti.
Everyone is invited and anyone interested in learning more about CHCH is welcome to contact Dennis and Becky via email at dedandrrd@aol.com.
