Community Resource Fair set for June 21

Published: 8:04 AM, 06/16/2008 Last updated: 8:03 AM, 06/16/2008

Cross Creek is teaming up with Smiley Family Chiropractic and Wellness Center to present the “New To You” Community Resource Fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, June 21, at the Cross Creek building on Sweetwater-Vonore Road. Businesses and organizations are invited for the sole purpose of introducing to the community the resources available.

Not only has the area recently experienced dynamic growth, which has resulted in new businesses, service providers and community groups, but there are also many organizations which have become through faithful years of service, an integral and valuable part of Monroe and surrounding counties. Come discover who they are and what they can offer.

Take a tour of the Cross Creek campus; find out about Boy Scout and Cub Scout programs; discover the who, what, when and where of our local fine arts programs through Monroe Area Council for the Arts; explore the happy partnership of education and ecology represented by River Ridge’s environmental and team building programs and introduce yourself to their critters.

Do you know about Sea Scouting, B.S.A. venturing program for girls and boys ages 14-21 that teaches the basics of sailing while providing the boats and equipment for the process?
Have you heard that your local American Red Cross offers babysitting training for young people? Did you realize that there is a great karate program in Madisonville? Come, watch the karate demonstration and talk to people “in the know” about all the great opportunities represented.

It’s a great outing for the whole family. The kids can jump on the big inflatable, play some fun carnival games and then fill up on a juicy hotdog with all the fixings. Fun, informative and free — it’s a combination that can’t be beat.
