Four arrested after false kidnapping call

Published: 4:15 PM, 07/01/2008

Author: Michael Thomason

Haynes, Millsaps and Manor returned to the home where the kidnapping claim had been made, but before anything could be straightened out, four people ran to the van Millsaps and Manor were in and started trying to assault Millsaps by throwing rocks at the van. They also made several threats against Manor.

The deputy said he tried to get control of the situation, but the four turned on him. Haynes, Millsaps and Manor were forced to leave the residence.
They stopped on Ball Play bridge to wait for back up, but before any other officers could arrive, the four people arrived at the bridge.

Haynes said he told Austin Presley Jr., 44, that he was under arrest. Deputy Ben Baker had arrived at the bridge by this time and he and Haynes tried to arrest Presley, but he fought against the handcuffs.
Haynes said he stunned Presley with a Taser, but that didn’t slow him down. He then hit Presley with the drive stun on the Taser, but Presley kept on fighting. The officers were eventually able to get the handcuffs on Presley.

While this was happening, Mary Angela Presley, 40, assaulted Leada Millsaps. Millsaps is the daughter of Austin and Mary Presley.
Haynes’ warrant didn’t say what the false report and fights were about.
Haynes arrested four people following the incident. Austin Presley Jr. is charged with domestic assault, assault, resisting arrest and rioting.

Mary Angela Presley is charged with making a false 911 call, domestic assault, assault and rioting. Jesse Ray Presley, 25, Lovin Farm Road, Vonore, is charged with domestic assault, assault and rioting.
Miranda Shea Presley, 24, Lovin Farm Road, Vonore, was charged with inciting a riot after Haynes said she encouraged the others to attack both him and the other two victims.
