Cleveland State awards Academic Service Scholarships annually to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement during their high school years. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition and fees at a value of approximately $2,700 per year.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must have a 2.9 grade point average (G.P.A.) and have taken the ACT. They must enroll and maintain a full-time course load and both a 2.5 semester and cumulative G.P.A. at CSCC.

Recipients are required to complete a 75-hour work assignment on campus each semester.

“Cleveland State is committed to helping students come to college and succeed,” stated Michael Stokes, vice president for Student Services.  “The Academic Service Scholarship Program is one way that we assist students in covering the costs of their education.  Through their work assignment in one of the college offices, students get an additional benefit of work experience that, in some cases, is connected to their field of study. Academic Service students also get to interact with faculty and staff outside of the classroom, which helps them become more involved in the total college experience.”

For 2008-2009, the college has awarded more than 50 Academic Service scholarships to incoming students, with 50 more students returning on scholarship for their sophomore years.

Cleveland State announces it has awarded Academic Service Scholarships to the following students in Monroe County: Sweetwater High School: Steven Cooper, Brittany Miller and James Richeson. Tellico Plains High School: Adam Crocker and James Graves.
