The Veteran's Memorial Flag in Madisonville flew at half-mast in honor Monroe County Court Officer Ken Sherman, who died over the weekend from cancer.
Sherman was well known at the courthouse and helped keep jurors well cared for during long trials. Monroe County Sheriff Bill Bivens said, "The Sheriff's Department lost a valued employee and friend with the passing of Capt. Ken Sherman. Ken has been a friend for many years.
Ken was always respectful, professional and cheerful. He was a stand up man that gave respect and always had respect from all those whom he may have come in contact with. Ken told me he started his career in law enforcement in 1961.
I know the many years of experience are a part of what made him the man he was. We all have inside of us other characteristics that make us the person we are. Ken had all the right ones. Ken, we know you are up there opening those high courts above and we also know we will see you again. Thank you for the many years of service to Monroe County.
Although your position will need to be filled at the courthouse, your place with us in our hearts will never be taken.
"Ken was admired by everyone and his opinions were always held in the highest esteem. He will be greatly missed."
